On Wednesday, May 4, 2011 Dr. Khoshbouei was honored to receive the Dr. Dolores C. Shockley Lecture and Partnership Award. Dr. Dolores C. Shockley was the first African American woman in the nation to receive a Ph.D. in pharmacology and the first to chair a department of pharmacology at an accredited medical school. This lectureship and partnership award honors Dolores C. Shockley by recognizing recipients for their involvement in partnerships that foster minority scientist career development. The lecture this year was an eye-opening presentation on the "Genomic and Social Determinants of Cardiovascular Health Disparities" given By Gary H. Gibbons, M.D.
