Douglas Miller
Doug is a 5th year PhD student co-mentored by Dr. Habibeh Khoshbouei and Dr. Andrew Maurer. He currently studies methamphetamine regulation of the dopaminergic network structure and function. The aim of this work is to determine the mechanism of cascading dysfunction from individual dopaminergic neurons to aberrant network syncrhony.
Prior to his disseration work, he completed an investigation of the effects HIV-1 Tat protein dopaminergic neurotransimission and microglial reactivity in the SNc and VTA. In addition to his research projects, Doug oversees all the mouse breeding management, designs, builds, and maintains computers and data servers, and manages the Khoshbouei lab microscopes. In his "free time", Doug enjoys tinkering with tech, photography, and music.
